Rachael
Dadd Rachael lives in the same house as Rozi Plain and Romanhead. She makes most of her music by telling everyone that she's going to bed, and then sneaking off to her trusty 8-track and plugging herself in. Her songs sparkle with a wide-eyed wonder and exhibit a fascination for the everyday magic of life. Musically, her head is in another place, which might explain why shes always locking herself out. Greg
Ashby Understated and arresting, Greg's songs seem to win the hearts of all who hear them. His six-song eponymous CD is a stripped-down lyrical masterpiece, and features his mum on the violin. Greg once left my house, got to the pavement and realised that he'd forgotten to put his shoes on. Come on, Greg. Click here for Greg's myspace site for more info and to hear tracks... |

Romanhead The solo project of Cleaner's conceptor, Sam Leyden, Romanhead's idiosynchratic take on music has confused and delighted audiences up and down the country. His debut album, 'Is Eskimo', was released in 2005 by King Creosote's legendary Fife-based imprint, Fence Records. Encompasing everything from lonesome mountain-top yodelling to screeching electronic workouts, the Romanhead sound is refreshingly wrong and spectacularly unique. Rozi
Plain Romanhead's younger sister, Rozi Plain thinks that guitar tuner pedals are for losers. She works on a ferry, she's pretty good at doing impressions of people's voices, and she produces incredibly lo-fi folk-dirges that stick in your head for days.. When played both CDs Grandmama Romanhead/Rozi Plain preferred Rozi's, but then she didn't get to hear all the naughty words, did she? Jetfly Jetfly is Jet McDonald, a big haired song and storywriter. Sometimes the songs are stories and the stories are songs. He wonders if they all live somewhere in his hair. He used to be Whalebone Polly's roadie which was a pretty easy job that seemed to involve lying around in the grass and staring at the sun. Click here for Jetfly's website for more info... |

James
Alexander James Alexander, Cleaner's resident ivory-tinkler, lives in the room upstairs from Hector. This is fortunate as Hector doesn't have an alarm clock. James's songs are finely-crafted fragile masterpieces. Unless you're drumming for him in which case they're just an excuse to hit him. James recently invested in a claw. Is The Kit This Is The Kit is Kate Stables, the other half of Whalebone Polly and member of Two Wooden Spoons and sometimes Morningstar, as I understand. TITK is the only member of the Cleaner collective to play a Peel Session and the only one who lives in Paris. Kate went to school with Sam and now she plays the banjo - funny how these things work out, eh? Click here for This Is The Kit's myspace site for info and to hear tracks... |

Binmouth Binmouth is Hector Peebles. I could tell you his full name but you'd only laugh at him. Inbetween not answering his phone and and recording other Cleaner artists Hector rocks out like a dirty dawg. Click here for Binmouth's website for more info and to hear tracks... |
